My journey.
I truly want to welcome you to my site. I am so honored that you have taken the time to consider me as your potential photographer. Let me tell you about me. I was born and raised here in Southeast Iowa. When I was young I was given a cheap camera for Christmas and with it created some of the worst photos I have ever seen. It was a bad experience. My dad had a great camera and I never was interested in learning about film based cameras, because of the experience that I had as with that first camera.
In the 90's digital cameras were being developed and I was waiting until they were as good a quality as a 35mm camera, which is what my dad had. Well I started buying and selling stuff on Ebay. I had to buy a camera to do that and place my images online. This started my taking pictures to make money. I sold a lot of items over the next six to seven years until the market went out for the items I was selling. During that time I had to learn how to take a good photo, light it, present it well to my customers. I did not sell the same item so each thing that I put out there to sell had to be unique to that item. So without realizing it I was learning how to market things through photography.
When I quit buying and selling I bought a better camera. I have always loved Iowa and have seen beauty in the farming community and wild life of Iowa and wanted to capture it digitally. I also had a very active son who was involved in school activities so I became a family journalist with my camera and purchased my first expensive lens for wildlife photography. This opened a door that would lead me to fall in love with photography as a form of art. My art. I treat each photo as a representation of my art work.
I am self taught, with the help of the internet, thank goodness for u-tube. As I would come across something I would like to learn I would research. Research until I could do it. Then I realized that taking pictures is only a small part of photography. Editing is just as important to photography as taking a good photo. This takes more time and produces the fine photos. I continue to work at this almost daily.
The day came when I was asked to do my first wedding. From that day on I have been involved in almost every style of this art form and have loved the challenge of creating photo art. From drone to creating new items with my photos and the new AI I look forward to what the next few years have to in store for the business. The business is new. However I have been taking professional photos since 1996. I have won photo contest. My work has been published in magazines and I continue to create beautiful photo's both for you and me.
